Details	Cyclopenol is a benzodiazepine-type alkaloid produced by Penicillium species, including marine and mangrove-derived strains. It has been shown to inhibit LPS-induced nitric oxide production and suppress IL-6 and iNOS expression through inhibition of upstream NF-κB activation. Structural studies reveal a 2,5-dioxopiperazine-related scaffold typical of cyclopenin-cyclopenol metabolites. Cyclopenol is used as a chemical probe to study inflammatory signaling and fungal benzodiazepine biosynthesis.
