Fulvic Acid is a fungal-derived phenolic humic substance that inhibits tau aggregation and modulates inflammatory signaling.
Details
Fulvic acid is a low-molecular-weight phenolic humic substance originally identified as a fungal metabolic product and later recognized as a bioactive natural compound. It inhibits tau protein fibril formation and promotes disassembly of preformed paired helical filaments associated with Alzheimer's disease. Additionally, fulvic acid downregulates inflammatory chemokines CCL17 and CCL22 by inhibiting p38 MAPK and JNK phosphorylation, attenuating Th2-driven inflammation in atopic dermatitis models. These combined neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory effects position fulvic acid as a multifunctional natural product scaffold for chronic inflammatory and neurodegenerative disease research.
