Thailandolide B is a merodrimane-type meroterpenoid evaluated for antimicrobial activity.
Details
Thailandolide B is a merodrimane-type meroterpenoid isolated from Talaromyces thailandiasis and structurally related species such as Talaromyces amestolkiae. Its structure was elucidated by spectroscopic analyses and confirmed by X-ray crystallography in related analogues. Additional configurational assignments were supported by TDDFT-ECD and ORD calculations in subsequent studies of ent-thailandolide B. Although thailandolide B and related metabolites were evaluated for antimicrobial activity against bacteria and fungi, no specific molecular target or defined mechanism of action has been reported. Thus, thailandolide B is currently characterized primarily as a structurally defined fungal meroterpenoid with screened antimicrobial properties.
